[Stanley Kubrick's Photography]

Today I visited photo-exhibition "Stanley Kubrick.Stories in photographs of 1945-1950" in Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow.

                                          Stanley Kubrick's self-portrait

When I entered the exhibition room I was not really amused - the space was decorated as usual photo exhibition, the only thing that was different was that the room itself was dark. All descriptions and photographs was lighten by small lamps which were fixed on the celling.

All Kubrick's photo-essays were divided on groups,a row of photographs was telling a story from Kubrick's sight. The first "story" which had impressed me was about young actress named Betsy Von Furstenberg. He was documenting her life and with his unique techniques was able to show all the fakeness and affectedness of a pretty, famous model. Descripion near the photographs were saying about a photo I wasn't able to find on the exhibition, where Betsy is falling from the bicycle, she was caught off guard and her fake smile was cemented on her face...I think this photo is the most revealing and I was quite disappointed I couldn't find it on the exhibition...

Second collection I liked was about young Brooklyn shoe-shine boy Mikkey, his strong will to freedom and responsibility. Also his personal life was on display:the boy is doing homework, looking after birds and playing fants with friends.

Also I fell in love with a phototgraph of a train from "Chicago" series,it's hard to explain, but I felt as if I am at the place myself and see the train with my own eyes(I will post it when I find it)

I really loved the exhibition.I knew about films Kubrick made, but never knew he was a talented photographer as well. His vision of things, events and other people's lives is very unique, also they gave me the similar feeling i got from his films. He found his style of filming through photography,in which he reached perfection in geometry and graphics. Will visit this exhibition again soon
