Text&Image Workshop 141011

On Friday 14 I had my first workshop -  Text & Image.

I really enjoyed this workshop.Full of discussions and different exercises,it made me think about things that don't normally occure in my mind.We were divided in groups and discussed text and image, where do we see it,what is it,how both ways communicate the ideas to the audience. My group was discussing text, sometimes it was hard to view from a different side, but I think we did well on this all together.Everyone in the group was new for me,but also very friendly:)

Next question was "Who is the author?Designer or a client?"
Myself I couldn't decide on the side-I think that author is a collaborative work of both:designer creates, client shows the way to create. Also, designer uses something already created and changes it in a way...

Then,we got to semiotics. The exrecise was to use a word "chair" and communicate something else with it.Our group was given "office".After ten minutes of sketching our ideas,we decided on one.Firstly,my idea of office space was taken, but after a bit of discussion we decided, that it's not obvious enough and made a 3D "office"...That's obvious enough!

In my opinion,we could just use a table to communicate office, cause we didn't need that much detail to make it obvious.Less=better!Other groups did really well with this.I really liked the "bench" one, smart, clear and obvious.

Other excersise was about changing meaning of the image with a text.We were given a few images and some words to create a story of it.Our story went too complicated,we really enjoyed making up the plot and had a big conversation about it.Can anyone get what the story was?Highly doubt it haha, but it was a nice expirience to create a story working in a group like that,I had so much fun kkk

The last task was to put a word into the image,so it works like a poster. We had a debate again, working in a group sometimes hard because of it...In the end we decided on putting text on the image in a way so it does not catch a lot of attention but puts a meaning,so we used grey colour and "interracted" with the image itself.

 Notes
what is text?
It's a code,a system.A visual form of a word.
how do we understand image?
Image is seen by all individuals differently, depending on their background, experience, ideology etc.
